Escaping the Third Rock from the Sun
So the old geocentric world view is still valid?
Of course, it’s what everybody directly experiences. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. You can take a sunflower which is going to follow the sun across the sky during the day. You can sit there with stacks of books and lectures and try to explain to the sunflower that what’s happening to it is not real and the sunflower is going to keep on responding to reality. It just responds. We still have that at our deepest levels, we still respond to that but our minds are disconnected form that because of the modern belief system so therefore people are trapped on the third rock from the sun intellectually while perceptually they’re living in the middle of a dynamic living universe which they are no longer aware of and the disconnection from which causes both internal physical diseases as well as mental diseases and the whole societal degeneration which we see happening now.
Who are the strongest influences you’ve come across who are involved in bringing these natural forces back into our reality in a practical way?
Well I haven’t really seen a lot of it. I’ve seen some work of the Anthroposophic sciences and also people like the Tychonian Society, It’s interesting, odd bedfellow in this field. Tycho Brahe the astronomer who mapped out the Tychonian world view which is the geocentric world view, so this was the opposing world view to the Copernican.
The Tychonians are generally like the biblical creationists and we find that the creationist scientists were quite into that because they believe the bible teaches that the earth is the centre of the universe and their interpretation of it and they go out and look for the scientific evidence. A man called Walter Vandercamp, both a physicist and a religious fanatic I suppose you could call him, wrote a book – he went through the last 3-400 years of ether experiments and explained why scientists went looking for the ether because all the experiments that were being done after the Copernic revolution to try to actually figure out how the earth was going around the sun by putting water into telescopes and taking measurements every six months and comparing the angle of diffraction. It was going to be a simple thing to show how far the stars were and how the earth was moving and they were going to calculate the universe. But the problem was there was no angle change, so rather than facing the obvious, that the experiments showed that the heavens were moving around the earth, nobody wanted to believe that because of this change in consciousness at the time. So they hypothesised an ether which must be dragging the light and then they went to all these ether drift experiments could never measure it. Walter’s take on it was they couldn’t measure it because it wasn’t there. The most obvious thing was that the direct result of the experiment showed the heavens moved around the earth.
Now it is a much more complex issue than that and the ether had been measured following that. Fundamentally much of what Walter said is correct and I believe that presents the old occult maxim which states: The centre is everywhere and the circumference is nowhere. So it’s probable the earth goes around the sun in that sense, the planets do go around like that but we don’t perceive that. It’s a subconscious structural level like our inner skeleton which we never directly perceive in our life, not while we’re living but when we die we can see it. So that’s the dead side of the universe.
The live side of the universe functions differently, it’s a totally different space. It’s not Euclidian space, it’s not dead space, it’s actually a live mobile active space which is what projective geometry as developed by the Anthroposophical school. Steiner pointed to that as being the true geometry of space and even relativity is a very shallow echo of the true projective geometry because relativity still exists in dead space and doesn’t acknowledge the dynamic forces. So you have all these world views and what’s really happening. You have Lilly Kolisko where she showed that where gold, for example, is related to the sun and silver to the moon in alchemy and all the other metals to the planets, she showed where specific planetary alignments, oppositions, etc., would have direct influence on the crystallisation of the metals related to the planets.
There are something like 40 years of experimentation on that as well as the experiments on the action of different planets on different types of plants that are related to them in herbology. There is the whole field of science out there and certain people are into it but it’s interesting that many people who do that still believe the modern world view. So I don’t believe the breakthrough has come. I’ve just found it within myself. I haven’t really seen it out anywhere else, just little pieces here and there that could be pieces together and used to build that picture.
How would you define the ether and how do you see that as being the new, or renewed source of our energy and attention?
Ether is nothing more than the living energies which create and drive life. In science the ether they were looking for was a dead hydromechanical ether which they never really found. What Steiner pointed to as the ether was very dynamic and broke into four phases, reflected in the four states of matter which were also known as the four elements. So you had the life ether which related to the earth element, the chemical or tone ether related to the water element, the light ether related to the air element and the warmth ether which is the same as the fire element. The ether and element are interconnected so in that sense you really have seven levels created out of the eight.
